Road to Dakar

Road to Dakar

We became the official sponsor of Krzysztof Holowczyc at the Dakar Rally. Krzysztof Holowczyc, together with Lukasz Kurzeja, are embarking on the ‘Road to Dakar’ start programme, which includes participation in the full Baja rally World Cup series in the 2023 season, as well as a start in the legendary 2024 Dakar Rally.

Together with our partners PROCAM Polska and Bio-Lider, we met at a special press conference to announce the start of the cooperation. Krzysztof Holowczyc has unveiled the cards for the upcoming 2023 season. One of the novelties will be the rally car our competitors will be competing in – they will get into the brand new MINI Countryman John Cooper Rally T1 Plus prepared by Germany’s X-Raid. It is an all-new design that will make its presentation in mid-December 2022 and its rally debut in Dakar 2023.

This is a very ambitious plan, which has been made possible thanks to the support and determination of all the partners and the enthusiasm of GIO-GEN’s owner Jarosław Pęczka, who says this about the new project:

We are leaders in biotechnology, our lives are always about total commitment and determination, this is how I approach running the business and all the projects I am involved in. We are a leader in biotechnology for agriculture and can only work with the best. Colloquially speaking, if we don’t want to be feeling the breath of the competition on our backs, we need to be far ahead of the others. This is why we decided to work with Krzysztof Holowczyc. Our goal is to win and I really want to hear the Polish anthem on the podium!

For Krzysztof Holowczyc, the participation in the World Cup and the new challenges are one of the biggest opportunities in his sporting career.

I am incredibly excited about the new project and partnership. Our sponsors are leaders in their field, winning markets all over the world in biotechnology and organic agricultural solutions. This partnership is to promote the best products, in the best team, in the highest category, in cross country rallying. It’s a huge challenge for me and Luke and probably the biggest opportunity I’ve been given so far. The World Cup start is intended to be a period for us to get to know the new car and possibly diagnose and eliminate the teething problems. X-Raid is an excellent team and I am sure the car will prove to be very fast. However, we approach our project with great commitment and do not allow ourselves the slightest error. The most important piece of our puzzle is, of course, Dakar 2024. It is there, with the baggage of experience gained from competing in a new car, that we will start with one goal – to win!

– comments Krzysztof Hołowczyc.

Łukasz Kurzeja has been in the right-hand seat of Krzysztof Holowczyc for 21 years. Together they have won several Polish Championship titles, the European Baja Rally Cup and have many rally wins to their credit.

This is a really big thing. I do not remember such an ambitious and extensive project in Polish motorsport. It’s a huge challenge for Christopher and me, but as they say, you have to aim high. We will be competing in a wide variety of conditions, from desert to more esessy such as Drawsko. Over the many years of competing, I have learned that for Holko the only thing that matters is winning, so I will immodestly say that you can expect a few trophies. When Krzysiek and I stand at the start line our goal is the top step of the podium.

– concludes Luke.
